Clay Schools Approve Hermitage Springs Gym Painting Bid

Clay County School approved a bid to repaint the Hermitage Springs Gym.

Athletic Director Rob Edwards said that they received three bids. He said that some of the bids varied based on whether the original paint of the gym was latex or oil-based.

“Whether it was oil or latex on the walls, he thought it was latex, he said regardless of what it is his bid stands where it is he’ll take care of it there,” Edwards said. “Richardson’s however, said that if he had to buy the bonding primer it would be an additional $1,500.”

Edwards said that even with the additional cost, Richardson’s bid was still the lowest at some $16,000. He said that the work will cover bleachers, handrails, and the walls. The School Board voted unanimously to award the low bid.

Edwards said that the bidders could not guarantee that the work would be completed by August 1st. He said that they hope taking the week of fall break to complete the project will at least have the gym ready for basketball season.
