Putnam Election Commissioner Submits Letter Of Resignation

Putnam County Election Commissioner Wendy McCown-Williams submitted a letter of resignation at the end of Wednesday’s election commission meeting.

According to the letter, the appointment of a poll worker that changed his party affiliation to independent was the reason. The commission voted in favor 4-1 to hire the worker. McCown-Williams, a democratic representative, was the only no vote.

McCown-Williams wrote “I was very uncomfortable with a poll worker and it was made clear to the chairman and Amos Powers.” She continued to say that “it’s sad for commissioners to put one poll worker above their fellow commissioner.”
