DeKalb Uses $50K TDEC Grant For Amenities At Agricultural Center

DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce has unveiled the new amenities available at the county’s Agricultural Center.

Director Suzanne Williams said that in receiving a $50,000 grant through TDEC, the facility was able to get a new commercial kitchen, new meeting and training space, and new bathrooms.

“The economic impact of this project is going to be significant,” Williams said. “It’s going to provide such a generous space to hold all kinds of diverse events, trainings, sales, auctions, meetings, programs. We’ll use that space to do culinary classes, to work with the 4H.”

Williams said that the timing couldn’t be better. The town of  Alexandria was recently accepted into the Tennessee Downtown Areas program, so a lot of work is being done to beautify the area.

Williams said that a bridge connects the downtown area to the fairgrounds where the Ag Center is located, so the chamber sees this as a major plus for the city.

“Because we plan on having lots of events at the Agricultural Center, and then it’ll just be a short walk over to the downtown to see all the fabulous things they have to offer there,” Williams said.

Williams said that details to reserve space at the Ag Center are still to be worked out.
