A McMinnville non-profit has found a new location for an enrichment center for adults and children with disabilities.

McMinnville Special was created 10 years ago to provide more recreational activities for those sometimes left out. Owner Holly McBride said the Garfield Street building is currently being renovated.

“It’s actually divine intervention,” McBride said. “We actually had a very very generous donor come to us and said if you find a building, we will pay for it. So we went to find a building and they paid for it.”

McBride said the goal is to open the McMinnville Enrichment Center publicly in the next 12 months. McBride said the organization needs to complete the licensing and get the state grants involved.

McBride said the non-profit serves some 120 members of the community. McBride said the center would host events such as art classes, story time and ice cream socials.

The organization also operates its own basketball league and equestrian therapy program where members can experience horseback riding.
