Overton Schools To Launch Customized School Security System

Overton County Schools working to launch its own security system.

Technology Coordinator Brent Thrasher said he developed the technology utilizing a feature of the Microsoft 360 software. He said SROs would be able to use their phones or other devices to log the security of the buildings.

“There will be a little tag at each door, the SRO would go to the door, they would scan the door, and they would say yes this door is secured or no this door is not,” Thrasher said. “And if it was not secure, they would then secure the door.”

Thrasher said by using the software the district already has, it was able to save money it would have needed to spend on a security system. He said they are also able to customize it and adapt to the individual needs of the school system.

Thrasher said he hopes to roll the tech out to the schools this fall. He said they plan to go to each school, tag the doors, and get SROs trained on the app.
