Upper Cumberland Adult Abuse Coalition held the first of its new learning series, “Bits and Bites” Thursday.
Committee Member Lynn Drew said the lecture highlighted information related to Alzheimer’s disease.
“We feel like it’s very important to get more education and understanding out there to the community,” Drew said. “That way it kind of breaks down the stigma, and people are more open to talking about it.”
Drew said Thursday’s discussions included dementia or Alzheimer’s indicators, different coping schools, and available support services. She said the more information is shared, the better off caretakers and loved ones will be when it comes to living with the disease.
Drew said the group originally wanted to start the series earlier but was sidelined by COVID. She said future “Bits and Bites” events have yet to be scheduled, but they plan to start as soon as possible.
