Final Paving To Begin For Intersection Improvement In Baxter

Paving to begin next week for TDOT’s intersection improvement project in Baxter.

Community Relations Officer Rae-Anne Bradley said the final project would improve the safety of the Highway 70 and State Route 56 intersection.

“The only remaining work once the paving is complete is to install the signal, some final striping and permanent stabilization of the dirt,” Bradley said. “The project is anticipated to be complete in the next two to three weeks.”

Bradley said the timeline of work is weather contingent.

During this work, the turning lane from SR 56 northbound onto US-70N will be closed as well as the turning lane from SR-56 to 1st Avenue. The right turn lane on SR-56 southbound will also be closed. Several detours will be available for motorists.
