Crossville Council Donates Interchange Dr. Lot To TCAT

The Crossville City Council unanimously voted to donate a lot on Interchange Drive to TCAT Crossville.

Mayor James Mayberry said the trade school has maintained the property and operated a truck driving program at the site for 11 years.

“So they can build an additional building on it plus maintain and keep the truck driver school going and help relieve some of the overcrowding at the current facility,” Mayberry said.

During discussion, City Manager Greg Wood said as a part of the agreement, the city should request that TCAT trains some drivers for the road department. Wood said the city has a need for CDL training.

The plan for the seven plus acre tract is a 5,000 square foot building featuring several classrooms and roughly 70 student parking spaces. TCAT Crossville President Cliff Wightman requested the land donation in a work session last week.
