Cookeville’s Veterans Barber Shop Moving To Baxter

Veterans Barber Shop in Cookeville is heading to Baxter.

Owner Jonathan Williams said after renting the Veterans Drive location for some 16 years, he has found a place to buy.

“I think this is going to be a good move for a number of reasons,” Williams said. “I already have a large number of customers from Baxter and surrounding areas, but also, there are no barber shops currently here in Baxter. There are a couple of hair saloons but no barber shops, so I will be the first and only in town until somebody else shows up.”

Williams said the new location will be at 409 Broad Street at the 4th Avenue intersection. Williams said the plan is to relocate by January.

“The last couple of years I have been looking around and found a great location in downtown Baxter,” Williams said. “Had a lady who’s getting ready to sell her business that she has been operating a saloon out of.”

Williams said he does not anticipate a break in services due to the move. Williams said the new location will still keep his classic barber shop design with some military type decorations.

“I like to think as my barber shop as being barber shop themed,” Williams said. “It’s very patriotic in here, but I am just going to keep doing what I am doing.”
