The Biz Foundry in partnership with the Highlands Economic Partnership will host its first-ever pitch competition.
Vice-President Tiffany Anton said the Start Here Pitch Competition takes place November 17th giving startups a chance for a $10,000 investment into their business.
“Sometimes people think that they can’t have a million dollar business without going to New York, California or even Nashville,” Anton said. “So we want to showcase that businesses are doing it here and can make it here in the Upper Cumberland.”
Anton said registration is open now at the Biz Foundry’s website for you to compete. Anton said a startup will know by November 4th if they have made it to the competition. Anton said the winner will also have a chance to pitch to angel investors.
Anton said the format will be similar to the show “Shark Tank” where entrepreneurs have five minutes to sell their business. Anton said before the official pitch, the Biz Foundry will work with competitors to form their presentation.
Anton said the President of the Biz Foundry Greg Brown has wanted to host a pitch competition for several years. Anton said the Highlands team combining the event with its Career Fest made it possible.
