Cookeville Planning Commission to hold a public hearing on Monday, October 24th to rezone some 17 acres on Blackwell Road to light manufacturing.
The property owned by company Nomads LLC is located off Highway 111.
Community Development Director Jon Ward said the property is currently split-zoned between single-family residential and light manufacturing.
“The light manufacturing just allows less intense uses than what are considered heavy manufacturing,” Ward said. “There are a number of uses that are permitted in the LM district.”
Ward said current Cookeville LM districts include businesses like TTI Floor Care, the Sun Trust Call Center, engine company Fleetguard, and DACCO transmission parts. He said the businesses you typically see in this kind of zoning have a minimal impact outside of the facility itself.
Ward said there are currently no plans submitted for the development of the site itself.
