A Sparta family farm will be the site of the 30th mural painting done by the University of Tennessee’s “Everywhere You Look UT” campaign.
The Johnson Family Farm has been a fixture in White County since 1806. Cynthea Johnson Amason is the family’s eldest daughter. She said when the opportunity arose for the family to marry their love for their community and their love for the University of Tennessee, it seemed like a no-brainer.
“I just think about how excited my dad would be because he grew up in Sparta, he loved Sparta and White County,” Amason said. “And he also said he could never repay the debt that he owed to the University of Tennessee for his education, for his contacts. I know he would be just beside himself if he were alive.”
Amason said the mural will be located on a shed on the farm that faces Highway 111. She said she hopes the mural will act as a welcoming beacon for those traveling through White County.
Amason said the artist is on the property currently painting the mural. She said she hasn’t seen it yet, but if it’s anything like the other murals already completed, it will be a beautiful asset to the county.
