UCEMC Volunteering At Livingston’s Winningham Park To Improve Walking Areas

UCEMC began a two-day community project in Livingston Thursday clearing overgrown trees around the walkways of Winningham Park.

District Manager Ben Winningham said about 40 UCEMC employees volunteering for the project as a part of the statewide Electric Cooperative Day of Service.

“My guys and gals are absolutely tickled to death to be out here and giving back to the community,” Winningham said. “So many people walk around this pond everyday and every night, and it is just nice to have it all cleaned out to where they might feel a little bit safer.”

Winningham said crews will also install new LED lights along the walking areas. Winningham said even the local garden club is getting involved by providing some new landscaping.

“Our ladies along with the Livingston Civic and Garden Club are planting flowers and bushes up towards the front near the restrooms,” Winningham said. “We’re also going to take all of the light bulbs out and put in a 10,000 lumen LED corn cob so that will light up the area better.”

Winningham said UCEMC employees have carved out two-days to complete the project. Winningham said a lane of Celina Highway will be closed during the project as crews clear the overgrowth.
