The body of missing 15-year-old Olivia Daryl Taylor of Putnam County was found Thursday afternoon after she was reported missing Wednesday night.
According to a press release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, the body was initially located in a wooded area of East Cookeville by County Road Department employees.
Sheriff Eddie Farris said though it is still early in the investigation, it is being treated as a homicide. One arrest has been made in the investigation regarding Taylor.
Charles “Chuck” Carter was arrested Wednesday night on charges of Aggravated Statutory Rape. Carter is now a suspect in the death investigation. He is held at the Putnam County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
The body will be sent for autopsy to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Nashville.
