This Week Putnam Commission Considers Grant Application, White Co Appoints IDB Members


This week in the Upper Cumberland the Putnam County Commission will consider a grant application to help fund the construction of the new fairgrounds Monday.

Up to $1 million available for the event center on Tennessee Avenue through the Appalachian Regional Commission.

A land sale at the Highlands business park also recommended to the commission. Two lots will be considered by commissioners. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m.

The White County Commission will reappoint its Industrial Development Board Monday night. Commissioners will also consider donating a county trailer to the Volunteer Rescue Squad. Business starts at 6:00 p.m.

In Fentress County, a bridge replacement project will be considered by commissioners. Bids are in for a some $1 million project for Jonesville Road over Bridge Creek.

A grant for fire fighter gear and training also to be considered by commissioners. The meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. Monday..

The Pickett County Commission meets Monday at 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, the Jackson County Board of Education meets at 6:00 p.m.
