Church Street Stakeholders Excited For Livingston Street Improvements

Livingston residents and business owners looking forward to the $1.5 million street improvement project coming to Church Street.

That is according to Downtown Revitalization Committee Chair Gene Gantt. Gantt said some 25 people attended an informational session over the project last week where the city encouraged feedback.

“We wanted to make everybody’s aware of what the plans were, because of that fact that it will be disruptive for a little while,” Gantt said. “So, we wanted to make everybody’s aware of what the project would look like and what it would entail.”

Gantt said the informative meeting overall was well-received and achieved the committee’s goal.

Gantt said the project paid for through state and local funding will totally change the look of the business district. Gantt said preliminary designs were shared showing the underground utility lines, light posts, sidewalks and a new drainage system.

Gantt said the city is in the permitting process with the state right now. Gantt said the plan is to start work in the spring of next year.
