York Institute Sees Largest Growth In Students Meeting ACT Benchmark In State

York Institute celebrating an achievement with recently-released state ACT scores.

The school demonstrated the highest growth in the percentage of students meeting the overall ACT composite benchmark of 21 with a 13 percentage point increase from 2021. School Director John Bush:

“There’s not a single silver bullet to unlocking this, but I think it’s a multifaceted approach,” Bush said. “I’m just proud of our entire school. These people… I am just so, so proud. I am beaming with pride right now.”

Bush said that multifaceted approach required effort from students, faculty, and administration. He said students realized how beneficial a good ACT score can be, and faculty worked to incorporate preparations into their lesson plans.

Bush said one of the big helps was an ACT boot camp held during their remediation period. He said they focused not only on testing materials but on testing strategies.

“Most things in life start with a relationship,” Bush said. “And we have ad dedicated team of teachers and educational assistants that truly do care about these kids and they want them to be successful and they pour their hearts and soul into it.”

Bush said he looks forward to seeing students success in the years to come.
