Engineering Group Studying Livingston’s Water System For Energy Improvements

The Livingston Board of Aldermen has approved a company to review the city’s water system for efficiency upgrades.

Mayor Curtis Hayes said the engineering firm will look for areas where solar panels could be added to the system.

“The preliminary study will be at no cost for the city of Livingston,” Hayes said. “The ultimate goal here is to help define and create a path for Livingston to reduce operating costs, become more energy efficient and see a true budget savings year over year.”

Hayes said the initial evaluation will lead to a proposal for the Board of Aldermen to consider implementing. Hayes said he anticipates feedback by the end of January.

Hayes said the group comes recommended from the state’s renewable energy program.
