Algood’s Green Mountain Water Project Facing Continued Delays

Delays continue in the City of Algood’s Green Mountain Water project.

City Administrator Keith Morrison said they hope the project with be finalized within the next month. He said there have been issues with supply chains and receiving parts slower than anticipated.

“So the pump station is currently here, the line is sanitized and ready, and we’ve got some valves,” Morrison said. “So now we’re waiting on one valve box and then we’ll be able to finish that up and go live.”

Morrison said residents in the area are excited to get the pump station online and ready for use. He said he anticipates families who own land in the area to move out there once there is better water service for residents. Morrison said even residents going up the hill will see better water pressure and benefit from the project as well.

Morrison said while they are hoping for a month, there are no guarantees.

“It’s just gotten held up waiting for the pump station, and valves, and a valve box,” Morrison said. “And we’re getting little pieces in but it seems like we can’t get them all in at once.”

The project was made possible through a partnership with Algood and Putnam County. The county allocated some of its federal COVID money to help offset the costs. Morrison said the city will be responsible for maintenance and depreciation.
