Six Occupants Safely Escape Monday Morning Fire

Six individuals safely escaped a fire at a single-family residence on  Denton Avenue in Cookeville Monday morning.

Captain Daniel Snyder said firefighters were on the scene around 5 a.m. for over two hours. He said the fire did result in structural damage to the home.

“So there was major damage to the rear of the structure, there was smoke and heat damage throughout the rest of the structure,” Snyder said. “The occupants will hopefully be able to salvage some of their belongings, but of course, that is yet to be determined.”

Snyder said the fire was knocked down and extinguished quickly. Snyder said crews are still working to determine the cause of the fire.

“They had followed up a shift change and were diffing through some of the debris and were trying to figure out the exact cause of the cause,” Snyder said.
