Local Businesses Joining Together For Cookeville’s First Chocolate Festival

Local business owners will come together this weekend to participate in Cookeville’s first-ever Chocolate Festival this Saturday.

Organizer Jamie Lankford is the owner of Jamie’s Eats and Sweets, a new bakery located on Broad Street. She said because she and several of her neighbors have all been established in the last year, they wanted to create a way to increase awareness of their businesses.

“We get people every day that are like ‘Oh I didn’t know this was here,’ But then it’s like well what can I do to reach you as a person, how haven’t you heard about us yet, and different things like that,” Lankford said. “And so every time that we can find somebody new, meet them, show them what we do and how we do it, it’s just another for us to be like, ‘Hey, let us serve you in the community.””

Lankford said there are some 25 businesses participating in the event. She said by purchasing a map of the locations for $5, you can travel to each location, get to know the business, and get chocolate.

“It’s a great way to get all the small businesses working together,” Lankford said. “January is always pretty slow as everyone knows, so we wanted to find a way to highlight all of the business that has come about just in the last year.”

Lankford said the event has been popular and well-received by the community. She said that based on the amount of interest the Chocolate Festival has received, they are already planning for next year.
