White Co. Election Administrator Reminds Of Voting Procedures For Referendum

White County Election Administrator Dorcas Marcum reminding residents about voting procedures for the sales tax referendum election.

Marcum said this election only permits county residents to vote. She said that means the two precincts in the Sparta city limits will not be open for early voting.

“It’s a really short ballot, there’s only one question on it, so it takes probably less than 10 seconds to do it as long as you know how you want to vote,” Marcum said. “Of course, we have paper ballots in White County, so you’ll come in, you’ll be issued your ballots, you’ll go sit down and mark your ballot and then you’ll run it through a scanner and then you’ll be done.”

Marucm said stand-alone elections such as this do not occur frequently. She said the last time one was held was when the city of Sparta originally voted to change the sales tax in 2019.

Marcum said to vote you need to bring a form of photo I.D., such as a driver’s license or a V.A. card. Early voting runs through March 9th.
