Clay Sheriff Hopeful Jail Project Is Finally Ready To Be Bid

Clay County Sheriff Brandon Boone said he believes the jail project is finally ready to take the next step.

Boone said he and county leaders met with USDA officials and the contracting company met to iron out the final details. He said based on that meeting, he believes all the criteria have been met to finally get the project underway.

“I’m asking questions and I’m having to explain to people that it’s going to bid and it’s not going to bid so what’s the problem here,” Boone said. “So yeah this should be the last little thing we need to do before it literally goes out to bid.”

Boone said he has felt frustrated by the delays, but that he is excited to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Boone said architect company representatives will be present at the next county commission planning meeting in April. He said there, the representatives will explain the schedule to bid out the project, start construction, and so on.
