Livingston To Move Forward With Engineering Contracts For Several Water Projects

Livingston will move forward with the engineering contract for several projects involving the city’s water and wastewater utilities.

Engineer Greg Davenport said the city will move forward with improvements to the raw water intake, and improvements at the wastewater treatment facility.

“So we’re going to get a third pump, change out of one of the old pumps, and we’ll have almost a brand-new pump sitting in case something happens,” Davenport said. “Now that’s been a line item in your budget for years. So this is going to satisfy a line item in the budget.”

Davenport said other engineering agreements include work for the automatic meter reader project. He said one project will use ARP funding to provide electronic meters to the Hilham and Monroe areas. He said the other project for meters in town will utilize some $3.5 million from the state revolving fund loan.

Davenport said the city is applying for some $450,000 with a CDBG grant for work at the wastewater facility.

“And these contracts we’re going to go over into the 23-24 budget year and possibly into the ’25 budget year,” Mayor Curtis Hayes said. “(…) These projects that Mr. Davenport has talked to you about (…) we’ve discussed the issues with water loss almost every Monday morning and how important it is that we get these under control.”
