HRS To Start Accepting Applications For Hickory Valley Housing Monday

Highlands Residential Services Hickory Valley residential complex will soon take applications.

The newest complex near Cane Creek Elementary will have 48 units available, including one, two- and some three-bedroom homes. Director of Operations Chris Cassetty said the housing is geared toward individuals and families of low to moderate income.

“Part of the reason that we’re building additional units is we feel there’s a lot of need here that’s what our metrics show us and what our other waiting lists show us,” Cassetty said. “So I think there will be a lot of excitement and a lot of applicants.”

Csasetty said when the applications open on Monday, April 24th, they will ask those interested to call into the office. He said they will be put on a list based on the order they called in.

Cassetty said HRS staff will reach back out to set up a more formal appointment. Cassetty said there are a lot of documents required to be considered for housing, including birth certificates, marriage licenses, income verification, and other paperwork.

“But of course, we work with families and individuals if they come and don’t have all that we give them an opportunity to come back and bring it all in we know it’s hard sometimes to keep up with all of that,” Cassetty said. “(…) The more stuff you bring on the front end the easier it makes it for us and for the applicant as well.”

Cassetty said they are unsure of exactly when the units will be ready, but they hope for a summer move-in.
