Grading is nearly complete on one of the tracks at the new motorsports complex coming to Cumberland County.
Flatrock Entertainment Group CEO Rusty Bittle said construction on the 3.5-mile club track is still ongoing and will continue over the summer months.
“We are about 95% done on the grade work, all of our storm is in the ground, and we should be putting some stone down, base stone down for the track probably in the next two to three weeks,” Bittle said. “And their goal is to have the track paved out sometime in July or early August.”
Bittle says he hopes to have the club track open by the fall of 2023, and the GP track open in 2024.
Bittle said the project has been a passion of his for 25 years, and he has spent a long time finding the land to finally open the complex. He said there will be multiple tracks at the complex along with a lot of things for both members and non-members to enjoy at the park. He said members get full access to the track for 200 days, as well as 24/7 access to all amenities.
“The club track is private, so it’s like a golf membership, and that track will have a lot of amenities; a restaurant, a spa, a hotel, lots of entertainment space,” Bittle said. “And then the GP track, which will be fully commercial will be available to the public for sanctioned events, for track day events, private testing, and then it also has a kart track component which will be fully public as well.”
Bittle said there is also a long-term plan to have a winery and brewery on the property as well. He said he hopes to attract major events to the complex in the near future.
“We are talking to multiple sanctioning bodies, we currently have letters of intent from a couple of international groups,” Bittle said. “We do plan on hosting a lot of events at Flatrock.”
