Sparta PD Updating Impound And Storage Fees

Sparta Police Department is updating its vehicle storage and impound fees.

Assistant Police Chief Nick Dunn said the new fees will help offset the cost of the city having to tow vehicles unattended or left behind after arrests. He said the fees have gone up from $150 to $250.

Dunn said the previous tow policy had a low bill for vehicles left unattended either in the roadway or because of an arrest. He said they would keep it in the lot for safekeeping for a fee of just $3 a day and no reimbursement for the towing cost.

Dunn said the new fees include a $ 30-a-day storage fee. He said the new fee schedule has been approved by the Board of Aldermen and has been implemented.
