Widespread damage to property in Fentress and Cumberland Counties following Sunday evening’s storms.
Both Fentress County and Cumberland County emergency personnel said they received videos from folks in the community showing tornadoes touching down.
Fentress Emergency Planning Commission Chair Gary Peters said the tornado started in the Wilder community and appeared to jump back and forth over Highway 127 and up Highway 52. He said there were no injuries.
Peters said that as of about 7:30 p.m., there were just under 1,000 people without power. He said there is an emergency shelter open at the Jamestown Community Center for those who need it.
Cumberland County EMA Director Travis Cole said according to their data, a weak tornado hit in the 70 north area, west of Crossville. He said it did do some extensive damage to one residence and minor damage to a hotel unit.
Cole said as of this evening, roads are back open. He said they are continuing to monitor the radar and weather patterns into the evening.
National Weather Service said there was almost twice as much wind shear over the Upper Cumberland than in the Nashville area.
