Dale Hollow Damsite Campground Reopens After Violent Storms

Celina’s Dale Hollow Lake Campground reopened Monday after June storms caused damage.

Resources Manager Crystal Tingle said the the campground shut down for about a month.

“We had large pine trees that were just damaged,” Tingle said. “We’ve had to take out tons of trees. We had a lot of overhanging limbs, and lot of hazards to people being in the area. So we had to remove those hazards from the campground.”

Tingle said there were a few campers and vehicles that sustained damage. She said to her knowledge there were no injuries related to the weather event.

Tingle said campers returned Monday as the campground reopened.

“We still have a lot of trees,” Tingle said. “But I would advise folks that if you have a reservation and you’ve previously been on a site that had a substantial amount of shade, it would be good to call and check.”

Tingle said all the sight information is being updated to show if previously shaded areas are now partially shaded or in full sun.

“We always want to make sure when people are using the recreation area and campgrounds that they stay safe,” Tingle said. “So if you’re boating you’re wearing a life jacket and all your safety items are on board. And if you’re camping a weather radio is a very good thing to have with you.”
