New Christian-Focused Homeschooling Group Coming To Sparta

A national homeschooling community set to open a new outreach in Sparta.

Director Whitney Arnold said the Classical Conversations philosophy is Christian first. Arnold said the teaching structure is great for accountability for homeschooling parents and also to give the kids a sense of community.

“We’re also classical and classical just means that children learn through three stages of learning,” Arnold said. “And as we teach them we want to help them develop the tools of learning. Help them learn how to learn.”

Arnold said the group will meet weekly at Bear Cove Baptist Church. She said the program includes science experiments, fine arts, and public speaking. Arnold said they use games and fun activities to assist with memorization and reciting information.

“Our Classical Conversations is also a complete curriculum so all homeschooling parents need to add is math,” Arnold said. “And phonics if they’re very young and still learning to read.”

Arnold said the program is led by local parents in the community.

“Our classes are led by other moms who have been trained in the Classical Model of learning,” Arnold said.

Arnold said next year Sparta Classical Conversations will have classes for ages four to twelve.

Arnold said Sparta Classical Conversations will be at a curriculum fair at Peachtree Learning Center in Cookeville on Friday from 4 pm-7 pm. Arnold said parents can get information on resources and examine catalogs. You can also reach out on the website at ClassicalConversations.com
