UCHRA Commodities Distribution Coming To Pickett Thursday Morning

Pickett County next up on UCHRA’s commodities distribution event schedule, set to start at 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Commodities Manager Adam Knepp said the event serves to help those in need feed their families. Knepp said the distributions have been widely popular across the region.

“The commodities program is for low-income families to help them to get food to help feed their families,” Knepp said. “Just making sure they have what they need to be sufficient, making sure they can save their money for other stuff they need to do in their lives.”

Knepp said to register for the event, families can call their local UCHRA office which will then direct them to Knepp or to a county coordinator. He said as long as you are in genuine need, the program will help you out.

The program serves 14 counties across the Upper Cumberland, working with other UCHRA program departments to most effectively spread the word and get people the help they need.

“They work out very well,” Knepp said. “Some people come across it and they don’t know that we have these services as well, so there’s always a few people who don’t know what we do, but there are quite a few people that do come to commodities distributions.”

The commodities program is headed to Pickett County tomorrow, following its normal schedule that can be found on the UCHRA website. Knepp said they are able to attend every county every other month, providing their services on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
