Jackson Co. Register Of Deeds Office Sees Success In Fingerprinting Services

Jackson County Register of Deeds Office is offering fingerprinting services to help provide residents with the service locally.

Register of Deeds Michelle Hix said the opportunity came about for an office at the courthouse to be hte hub for such services a few months ago. She said it has been busy ever since.

“I know how valuable it is to have things in your county instead of having to go out of your county, to have it within your county is amazing,” Hix said. “And that’s why everybody comes from Red Boiling, Livingston, and different places. They all say ‘We’re so glad you have it here because otherwise we would have to travel further.’”

Hix said fingerprinting is used by everyone from the school system to truck drivers. She said eventually, they would like provide services for passport photos as well.

Hix said the process to get fingerprints done is very simple. She said all you have to do is go online and make an appointment and they try to get a same-day turnaround.

“But if you come in here and you want to do it the same day, we go online and do it for you and do it hte same day,” Hix said. “We don’t turn anyone away that’s one day ahead or one day behind. Our doors are open fr them to come in and we take them no matter if they have an appointment or not.”
