FC Boyd Christian School Dedicating Pavilion Saturday In Memory Of 5-Year-Old Maddox Forsythe

FC Boyd Christian School will dedicate a new outdoor pavilion Saturday in memory of Maddox Forsythe.

Principal Donna Newby said Forsythe had been scheduled to start at FC Boyd in 2021 when he unexpectedly passed due to a heart abnormality.

Newby said people began sending donations to the school which established a scholarship fund. She said Forsythe loved the outdoors, so money was also used to build the pavilion providing an outdoor learning and fellowship space for  FC Boyd students.

“I don’t know that I’ve ever met anyone that knew him that didn’t have a story to share about him,” Newby said “And again he was five years old and it was something humorous or something like where he was generous, wanted to take care of others.”

Newby said the pavilion roof is painted blue because that was Forsythe’s  favorite color and it has picnic tables under it so it can be used as a shade area or an outdoor classroom.

Newby said butterfly bushes are located in the corners to attract the butterflies that he loved.

“We’re going to have a walkway, that’s not been constructed yet,” Newby said. “But we’re going to have a walkway and give people an opportunity to buy memorial stones. And those stones, the money is going to go towards the sponsorship of students coming here.”

Again, Newby said, he looked forward to coming here so much and wanted to be here so we want to give an opportunity to kids that need financial help.

“I met him but didn’t know him well. I know from others talking about him that he was a friendly, loving, caring child and he just enjoyed being around people,” Newby said.

The pavilion dedication will take place at FC Boyd Christian School at noon on Saturday.
