Livingston Summer Fest First Of Its Kind

Livingston will host its first Beer and Wine Summer Fest Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m.

Overton County Chamber of Commerce President Shannon Cantrell said the festival will build upon the ideas from previous festivals held in the city but also bring in local breweries to present their products. She said this event is an opportunity for the city to exhibit some of its valued local industry to residents and visitors.

“We wanted to do something a little different this year, something that’s never been done in Livingston, and the Downtown Revitalization Committee discussed changing things up a little bit and doing a beer and wine festival,” Cantrell said. “Along with the Music in the Park that we typically do each summer.”

Local brewery booths will be set up for random tasting alongside a setlist of musical artists Legacy, Janelle Arthur, and Stacy Mitchart. Cantrell said there will be plenty to do in the five-hour span of the event.

Cantrell said the event was planned to give the people of the city a new experience, but also to increase exposure for local businesses. She said she would urge people to arrive early, get something to eat downtown and explore the city of Livingston before the festivities.

That Saturday should be a good day for all of our local businesses because we will have more people coming into the area than usual,” Cantrell said.

Cantrell said the event will only be available to those 21 and up due to the alcoholic tasting. She said the city will be taking legal and safety enforcement very seriously, making sure that the festival leaves a positive note.

“We wanted to be responsible and make sure that, with this being the first event like this in Livingston, we ensure that it is only 21 and up,” Cantrell said. “And we have also hired a cab service, as well as a limo service, to be on-site that evening to provide free rides home.”
