Petett Resigns As Cookeville Principal, Trentham Named Interim

Cookeville High School Principal Max Petett has resigned, citing health and personal reasons.

Petett has spent four years as principal at Cookeville. In a statement released Wednesday afternoon, Director Of Schools Corby King said prayers of the system’s staff and students are with Petett.

“I appreciate what Max has done for Cookeville High School during his four years there,” King said. “It’s not easy being the principal at one of the largest schools in the state.”

King named Karen Trentham interim principal. She has spent the last nine years as assistant principal at Cookeville, part of a 15-year tenure at the school. She previously served as principal of Parrottsville Elementary in Cocke County, TN.
