Overton Exploring Bulletproof Glass At Courthouse, Jail

Overton County will receive money to upgrade security at two county court facilities.

“They’re looking at bulletproof glass for the court clerk and then also the Chancery Court,” County Executive Steven Barlow said. “So we had met with several judges and of course the Circuit Court Clerk was there and the Sheriff and everything and we was looking at the needs for this grant and the bulletproof glass was high on the list, so we’re looking at that.”

The grant would provide bulletproofing on both levels of the Overton County Courthouse as well as the Clerk’s Office inside the Overton County Jail. The grant featured no county match.

Overton County Commissioners approved the grant at its Monday meeting.

Commissioners also approved payment of a grant to move the Airport Fuel Tanks. The county will split the $3,080 match with the city of Livingston.
