Gainesboro Examining New Telemetry System for Wastewater Plant

Gainesboro officials looking for ways to fund a new remote monitoring system for its wastewater treatment plant.

Aldermen discussed the need for the telemetry system Thursday night. The new system would electronically monitor the plant 24/7 and alert staff if any issues arise. Wastewater Manager Chad Scott said it would make running the plant both easier and more effective.

“There’s dials to your phone, like a box inside the plant,” Scott said. “It’ll call you if anything high-level, or an alarm goes off, it’ll call you.”

Currently, staff check the plant’s operations in-person, even in the middle of the night. The price tag on the system, just under $10,000. Officials said they did not have that in the budget, but would investigate the possibility.
