This Week: Algood Discusses Rail Trail Change


Algood City Council will discuss the board terms of members of the Rail Trail Authority this week.

The Rail Trail Authority wants to make a change to allow members to serve more terms, so that good members can stay part of the group. Cookeville has already approved the change. In other business, the board will discuss a Partners Driver Safety grant and consider a lease agreement for the Algood Post Office beginning in 2025. The board will also consider a change order for the Old Walton Sewer Extension project. The council meets Tuesday at 6pm.

Monday night, the Byrdstown Aldermen gather. An update on the city’s water and sewer projects as well as training will be discussed. That meeting begins at 5:00pm.

Van Buren County Committee A meets Monday night at 5:30pm.

Also Tuesday, the Crossville City Council will discuss what to do with Crab Orchard Stone removed from the Village Inn property. The city purchased the property and is razing the old motel. At least one member of council wants to save the stone. The meeting begins at 6:00 at Crossville City Hall.

Celina Aldermen meet Tuesday at 6pm.

The Tuesday Night Warren County Planning Commission meeting has been moved to October 17.

Fall breaks continue across many school systems in the Upper Cumberland. Tennessee Tech students have Monday and Tuesday off for fall break.
