DeKalb Donator Registration For Angel Tree Coming Up October 29th

Signups for DeKalb County’s 29th Annual Angel Tree Project take place Thursday

Angel Tree President Laura Stone said the Angel Tree works to give presents to under served children. Registration takes place at the First Baptist Church Life Enrichment Center from 9am to 6pm Thursday. Late applications will not be accepted.

“We have families that work, work hard, but it’s expensive,” Stone said. “I mean it takes a lot of money just to run a family and when you have to pay your mortgage, pay your cars, your telephone, all the things that go along with life, it’s just hard to make up for it at Christmas.”

Stone said many former children who have benefited from Angel Tree come back to volunteer to make sure other kids get gifts. Stone said they are now accepting financial donations which will be used to shop for presents.

Children up to age 12 can register for the Angel Tree. Stone said the need keeps growing.

“I’ve lived here since 1979 and there’s always been a need,” Stone said. “We’ve been doing this since 1994 when I was quite a bit younger and we’ve just grown through the years and unfortunately the need has also grown.”

During Thursday’s registration, residents must bring a photo ID and a bill with your current DeKalb County address.
