The Algood Planning Commission delayed a decision on the final site plan for a new instant oil change facility Thursday night.
The proposed facility would be located at 584 West Main Street. City Administrator Keith Morrison said new details emerged Thursday about changes to the stormwater plan. The revised plan involves an underground stormwater detention and those changes must be submitted for review.
“I was unaware until today that they are changing the stormwater plan,” Morrison said. “What we reviewed previously was good, but there have been changes that we were unaware of and will need to review, and cannot say whether those are sufficient at this time or not.”
The Commission did approve the final site plan for the establishment of a heavy equipment rental facility at 362 Transport Drive. Uncertainty with the stormwater plan has also been an issue with this project. The project was on the agenda last month but the decision was pushed to Thursday’s meeting.
The proposed oil facility was granted a special exception from the board of zoning appeals in February, allowing the establishment to be in a General Commercial zone. Morrison said the building would have some 1,700 square feet which includes two service bays.
The Commission will look to make a decision in their November meeting. Commission members moved the meeting to November 30th to avoid Thanksgiving Day.
