Wingstop Takes Last Commercial Spot At Shoppes At Eagle Point

Wingstop is coming to Cookeville’s Shoppes At Eagle Point.

Community Development Director Jon Ward said it is the last spot in the shopping center. Ward said a building permit has been issued, so Wingstop is now free to remodel the space. Ward said businesses contact the city daily about locating here. Finding a space can be an issue.

“We just always tend to play a little bigger than our population as far as how businesses’ sales go,” Ward said. “I think it’s just a testament to regionalism here as well and kind of being a hub for the Upper Cumberland area.”

Wingstop is an aviation-themed chain restaurant that mainly serves chicken wings. No opening date for the restaurant has been announced. Ward said he expects more shopping centers and commercial property will be developed in the future.

“People meet with us regularly about the potential for commercial expansion, right.” Ward said. “We haven’t issued any building permits for anything at this point otherwise, but there’s still continued interest.”

Ward said there is not a lot of vacant commercial space built across the city.

“There still a lot of interest in the city,” Ward said. “I think most of our commercial business here are doing well. I think most are very successful. Yeah, I think it says a lot about commercial opportunity in the city that we continue to see that interest. It’s not just from them. We still have contacts daily from other businesses looking to locate here. Finding a spot and you know working it out is always steps to getting a businesses open, but we still see a lot of activity.”

Ward said he gets the most feedback from the community when new businesses come in. He said people get excited about Cookeville’s continued growth.
