McNeilus Steel To Expand With New Warren County Facility

A steel manufacturing company will expand its operations into Warren County creating some 50 new jobs.

The state announced Tuesday that McNeilus Steel will spend some $23 million to expand to Morrison. The new facility will open on East Maple Street.

McNeilus Steel General Manager Zachary Ernst said that the company has been providing steel products around the country for over 75 years. The full-line steel service houses some 5,000 products that are manufactured and shipped across Tennessee and into the Midwest.

“What happens in rural Tennessee matters to all Tennesseans,” Governor Bill Lee said. “McNeilus is a family-owned business that I am proud will create 55 new jobs in Warren County. I thank them for sharing our commitment to building greater opportunity in one of our state’s most distressed regions.”

Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart McWhorter said that McNeilus could have chosen to locate this project at any of its other locations, but Tennessee and Warren County have vital qualities that made this the right fit.

“Tennessee’s business-friendly climate attracts companies to the state, but it is our skilled workforce and quality of life that keep them doing business here,” McWhorter said.

The plant will provide services not offered by the current facility in Morrison. The company will hire for warehousing, sales, human resources, information technology, maintenance, and management positions for its new location in Tennessee.

“We are thrilled to join the community as an employer that values the contribution of each individual and demonstrates concern for health, safety and well-being of our employees and their families,” Ersnt said.

The TNECD has supported nearly 30 economic development projects in the Upper Cumberland region since 2019 that have opened some 27,000 jobs and almost $800 million in capital investment.
