Tech Welcomes Alumni Back For Homecoming Weekend

Tennessee Tech welcoming students, alumni, families, and the Cookeville community to the Homecoming Week Celebration.

Saturday festivities will begin with a parade at 10:30 a.m. traveling from Dixie Avenue through the Tech campus. Crawford Alumni Center Director Susan Luna-Hazelwood said alumni can enjoy a parade watch party in the Varsity Alumni Building. She said Tech makes a special effort to connect alumni to the event.

“We’re really hoping that alumni still are proud to be Tennessee Tech graduates who have gone to Tennessee Tech,” Luna-Hazelwood said. “One of our biggest goals is to increase the engagement for alums so that people will understand how proud we are.”

Luna-Hazelwood said that the greater Cookeville community should also come to the event given how connected they and the college are.

“Homecoming has so many different activities that hopefully there’s something for everyone,” Luna-Hazelwood said. “And people who are just starting, it’s their first semester, it’s a great way to get involved and to get engaged and meet new people.”

“I know when I was a student here Homecoming was one of my favorite weekends, absolutely. And it was a great opportunity for parents to see maybe the non-academic side.”

Luna-Hazelwood said the watch party will offer free coffee, donuts, and prizes. Alumni are encouraged to interact with staff and students during the event.
