Clay County Schools awarded a $224,000 grant to install new security cameras in all schools.

Director of Schools Diana Monroe said the money is for the School Violence Prevention Program. Monroe said doors used by students and staff during class transitions will also have access controls installed.

Monroe said that the schools hope to have the new system up and running by the beginning of the next school year.

Monroe said the money along with a matching portion of $75,000 will be used to install a new camera system in all county Schools. Monroe said the money will also be used to install a new camera system in the District Office.

Monroe said the schools are currently working to get everything lined up to receive funding and get vendors in line.
