Sparta Aldermen Appoint Four To Senior Center Board, One More Seat

Sparta Aldermen appointed four individuals to serve on the Senior Citizens Advisory Board, as the Senior Center looks to rebuild its leadership.

James Douglas, Jim Floyd, Connie Leftwich, Shelia Robinson will serve alongside Mayor Jerry Lowery on the board.

The city is to appoint five members to the board, while the county appointed four earlier this week. The fifth member appointed by the city has yet to be determined. Two members of the board will be voted into the position by active members of the Senior Citizen Center.

The city is rebuilding the board from scratch after the old Senior Citizens Advisory Board voted to dissolve in October. This decision was made after Senior Center Director Brenda Roberts was relived of her duties pending the outcome of an investigation by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office.
