Roof Project At Existing Park View Project Ahead Of Schedule

Contractors have avoided major weather delays, putting the roof-replacement project at the existing Park View Elementary School ahead of schedule.

Facilities Supervisor John Magura told the Putnam County School Board Thursday night that the work has slowed down a tad recently due to rain and low temperatures. He said he believes that they are still ahead of the original schedule. Director of Schools Corby King said this is exciting news and he hopes the swift progress stays consistent.

“Anybody doing construction projects, especially this time of year, understands how weather can impact the timeline of the construction project,” King said. “Especially with the rains we’ve had the past few years, that could have a big impact, so I’m hoping we can get inside the building and have the new roof on.”

Most of the work so far has been done on the shingled-portion of the roof. Magura said socket work and gutter work have been the main focus during the colder days.

“When the temps get where they need to be, they’ll start working here on the flat roof,” Magura said. “All the shingle roofs are complete, so they’re in good shape.”

ESSER-3 funding continues to be used to pay for the project. For those funds to be used, the project must be completed by June, so the board welcomed the positive update on the timeline.

“It’s great,” King said. “Hopefully, we’ll keep moving forward and have the building dried in so that we don’t have weather delays.”
