Roane Man Charged In Cumberland Woman’s Drug-Related Death


A Roane County man arrested in the drug-related death of a woman at her Cumberland County workplace in August, 2021.

45-year-old Michael Paul Kerley charged with one count of Second Degree Murder and one count of the Manufacture, Sale, Delivery of Schedule II Narcotics. Kerley charged in the death of Ashley Nicole Cressel. The woman found unresponsive at her workplace in August, 2021. She was pronounced dead after transport to the hospital. Cressel found to have died from acute methamphetamine toxicity.

The TBI and the Cumberland County Sheriffs Department investigated and found Kerley, the woman’s boyfriend, provided her the drugs.

Kerley booked into the Cumberland County Jail on $500,000 bond.
