The RAM Mobile Medical Clinic will provide free medical, dental, and vision services at Pickett County K-8 in Byrdstown Saturday and Sunday.
Remote Area Medical Senior Clinic Coordinator Audra Fitzgerald said services will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Fitzgerald said the clinic will open its doors at 6:00am Saturday.
“So in our dental area we offer things like extractions, fillings, and cleanings,” Fitzgerald said. “In medical, we have women’s health and general medicine. And then in vision we offer complete eye exams with a prescription filled onsite.”
Fitzgerald said people can come to the parking lot before they open to pre-register for services. She said the parking lot will open no later than midnight Friday night. Fitzgerald said it is important to provide these services for rural communities, especially the dental and vision services that are often not covered by Medicare or Medicaid.
“Any patients seeking care need to come prepared with food, water, any clothing or medication items that they may need while staying in the parking lot overnight seeking services,” Fitzgerald said.
Fitzgerald said a parking lot attendant will have more information about registration after people arrive.
“It’s just a profile system, and that just speeds things up for patients entering the door and gets them to their service area quicker,” Fitzgerald said. “It’s not a guarantee of services.”
Fitzgerald said there is not a hard closing time on Sunday, but it will be a half-day of services.
“It will really depend on the number of providers that are going to be serving the clinic, as well as the length of time it takes to treat all the patients,” Fitzgerald said.
