Harriman Man Arrested After Crossville Knifepoint Robbery

A Harriman man has been arrested after a robbery at knifepoint Tuesday morning at the Crossville Waffle House.

Crossville Police received a call for a robbery in progress at 12:55am. The man ran from the scene with some $390 in cash after assaulting two employees by striking them.

The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Jonathan William Beard. Beard was charged with aggravated robbery, burglary, two counts of aggravated assault, and four counts of vandalism.

Beard ran into the wooded area behind the Marathon gas station. The suspect was later found in the attic of the Red Roof Inn motel. Upon being discovered, Beard allegedly began throwing money at officers and refusing to cooperate. Officers used pepper spray, bean bags, and a taser to extract the man from the attic and took him into custody after he fell through the ceilings of three separate hotel rooms.

The hotel suffered an estimated $30,000 in damages.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department assisted the Crossville Police Department in apprehending the subject.
