Drugs, Cash Seized In I-40 Traffic Stop Monday


A traffic stop Monday near Interstate 40 exit 290 netted nearly 50 grams of drugs, paraphernalia and cash.

Putnam County Sheriffs Department stopped Melinda Sharma driving a U-Hail. She was wanted on outstanding warrants in another county. Deputies found approximately 18 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately 20 grams of suspected marijuana, approximately 7 grams of a brown powder substance, and approximately 12 doses of suspected LSD. Deputies also seized drug paraphernalia, and currency.

Sharma faces multiple charges and was booked into the Putnam County Jail with a $17,000 bond. A first court date has been set for July 22.
